Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and community service. One of the first things he did is to help the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children in a Eufala farm. In football, he played alongside three brothers for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. The three years he was a starter Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third year in the year 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week while he attended college. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. In 1988, he was an Account Representative at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of the most notable young males. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He captained his college team in 1975. In 1993, he joined the university of south Florida's sports department as associate director. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
