Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on the 13th of February, 1979) is an American actress fashion designer and model. After a brief stint as a model in the fashion industry her career quickly shifted to acting when she appeared in guest roles on television shows such as Boy Meets World in the 1990s as well as High Incident. Her first film appearance was on 1997's dramatic Nowhere. She transitioned to leading roles after her performances on American Beauty for which she received nominations for the BAFTA Award and American Pie each of which garnered more attention. She appeared in 2000 in American Pie alongside American Pie co star Jason Biggs. In 2002, she took on the lead role as the lead character in Sugar & Spice (2002). She had appearances in the independent 2002 drama Spun and the 2004 thriller film Trauma. Additionally, she appeared on the HBO drama Six Feet Under. The show aired in 2004. In 2008, she was featured in several films including Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh or the adaptation film to The Garden of Eden. Suvari appears in models as a model for Lancome Paris Adaptive, and she's been in a variety of blogs and magazines such as Vogue. She is a long-time supporter and a defender of the highly regarded African relief organization the African Medical and Research Foundation. She is also involved with matters of empowerment for women and collaborates with various organizations to are supportive of breast cancer awareness as well as The End Violence Against Women Campaign.
