Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She is also a seasoned public speech writer. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of portrayals in popular cultures. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has won accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which investigates representations of women in narratives from popular culture. She's committed to removing stereotypes about women and how they are depicted in pop culture. In addition, she works to raise the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian, who has an MA in the field of Social and Political Thinking at York University, is a well-known public speakers. She has spoken at TEDxWomen's XOXO Festival and the United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since the age of 7, she started her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while still a student at the University. She had a plan to launch a web series on the gender roles in video games. She found herself the target of an online harassment campaign. But the harassment did not hinder her. It only strengthened her as a feminist journalist. Many awards have been presented to her for her contributions to the field she made. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency, an educational organization that focuses on the ways women are depicted within popular culture narratives.
